OUR AIM

Timeless aims to provide artists with a safe space to perform and provide young musicians with the knowledge they need to succeed within the industry. The early stages of bands performing is what sets them up for their career long term, the first shows artists play allow them to grow confidence and find their strengths within their craft. At Timeless we plan to help artists every step of the way.

TRACK OF THE WEEK: ‘SILENT DISCO’ – CHRIS GREIG & THE MERCHANTS.

Our Track of The Week is ‘Silent Disco’ by the wonderful Chris Greig & The Merchants. We are delighted to also be hosting them at Broadcast on Saturday 9th October so make sure you don’t miss out.

We had a chat with the band about the new single:

How do you feel the response has been to your new single ‘Silent Disco’?

It almost sounds cliché now but the response has been overwhelming. On release date, it was fast approaching a year since we had put anything out so the amount of love we received for the track, which we are still receiving, has been incredible.

What was the writing process like?

The writing process differs for each of our tracks to be honest. It is often a shared process between myself and Chris J – however I generally tend to take the lead. Silent Disco was originally a track thought up by Chris J, who wrote a rough idea for a song which told the story of falling in love with someone at a Silent Disco, but once I got my hands on the track, that completely changed. I changed up many of the lyrics and turned it into a song about helping an introverted friend come out of their shell.

How did you find lockdown as a band?

The last year and a half on not performing has been really tough. We were very lucky at the start of lockdown to receive grant funding from Help Musicians which allowed us to continue recording and producing music, while stuck at home. This was a huge help and definitely stopped us from feeling down about the situation. We set out to continue entertaining people, and we did just that – or at least we like to think so. We had fun with it too, releasing a couple of cover songs on our Facebook and YouTube – the popular one being our cover of Jimmy Eat World’s hit  ‘The Middle’.

What do you have planned next?

We’ve been working hard, preparing a completely brand new show to showcase at our first headline show in nearly 2 years – at Broadcast Glasgow. We also have some more releases coming up but we’ll keep that on the down low for now…

Who are the band’s biggest influences?

Frightened Rabbit, Stereophonics and Kings of Leon are definitely at the hear of our songwriting, however there is a lot of influence from other genre’s of music as Dan was once a drummer in a punk band, and Chris & Don have played in Metal bands before – this is why we feel we have a unique sound as we draw from all these different areas. We are also big 1975 and Sam Fender fans.

What up and coming artists are you listening to?

They’ll probably be sick of us mentioning their name now but we are LOVING Dictator. We’ve been keeping an eye on them for a while, and really enjoying their music, but we shared a stage with them at Live in Livi this year and their set blew us away. We’re definitely keen to get more shows with them. Would also be worth mentioning Rylah and St. Clements. Both incredible bands, who create incredible music. We feel privileged to be sharing stage with them at our upcoming headline show.
